A neutered cat at Bilik Gerakan MUDA, USJ

Saudara Zayd Shaukat, the MUDA candidate for N.31 Subang Jaya whom I chanced upon meeting yesterday, sent me a photo of his Bilik Gerakan cat this morning!

This is the cat who greets him every day when he goes to work.

The first thing I noticed (well, it is a force of habit!) is that the cat has already been neutered. Take a look at the ear-notch!

I do notice quite a number of ear-notched cats all over the five foot ways in Subang Jaya. This is a very encouraging sign. It shows that while we wait for the government to hopefully one day implement neuter-and-return with no more catch-and-kill, we, the little people, are already doing all that we can, within our limited capacity to help street animals.

It would help tremendously if we also had leaders who are compassionate and passionate about helping street animals too!

We look forward to that day.

State elections are coming up, folks. Engage with the candidates in your area and ask them how they feel about street animals.

Then, cast your vote wisely and hope for the best!

My meeting with Saudara Zayd Shaukat, the MUDA candidate in my constituency: https://animalcare.my/2023/08/03/a-chance-meeting-with-saudara-zayd-shaukat-the-muda-candidate-for-n-31-subang-jaya/

He loves cats; has two cats at home and a neutered street cat goes to the MUDA Bilik Gerakan daily to greet him. And he and his team take care of this cat too.

Animals can sense compassion. Unlike humans, animals don’t get it wrong! Their senses are spot-on.

We need compassionate leaders and compassion is not limited only to humans.

We also need leaders who make the effort and interest to follow up after a first meeting. Bukan setakat melepaskan batuk di tangga or say whatever they think you might want to hear. They follow up because they are sincere and genuinely interested. They take the time to reply to all your texts no matter how busy they are, and yes, they are busy (it’s campaign period), but they take the time.

Saudara Zayd replied to all my texts yesterday. And he followed up today, even though the issue was just talking about street animals and we weren’t discussing anything particularly urgent. But he took the time to do it.

Please vote wisely.
