I went for my fourth drip just now. This time I was seen by the head doctor and he explained that even though I am so much better, I have to complete the twice per day 3-day drip. So, no short cut there. The reason is, mycoplasma pneumonia is rare but very complicated (“marfan”, he said). If it’s not fully got rid off, it will keep coming back. Yikes.
He says it used to be rare but now they do see it in Covid-19 patients. Another yikes. I got Covid-19 but just once.
Some people can recover on their own without even knowing what it is. But some can’t….yes, like me. I must have hit a low in my immunity.
I told him my cat (Juno) had it on 1st October 2024, he was almost shocked that vets can detect it. Haha…he probably doesn’t know how advanced vets are these days. I said my cat (kitten, actually) recovered. He doesn’t think I got it from Juno. Yes, neither do I.
From my experience, really, veterinary medicine is so much more effective and targeted than human medicine. No kidding. I have the experience to prove this. And vets are so good. They can diagnose without the patient having to say a single word.
Vets should be paid more!!!
Sorry, I digressed. I couldn’t help myself.
Anyway, I told the doctor I want to change the IV-port to my left hand because the one on the right is already blue-black. And this time, I want it removed after the drip. I don’t mind being poked again tomorrow. I don’t want to retain the IV-port on my arm. It’s very inconvenient and I’m just subjecting myself to the risk of infection. The blue-black scar also makes me look like a drug addict. Cheh!
So it was removed after today’s drip. I’ll be poked again tomorrow.
The doctor says after the 3-day drip, I have to go on oral antibiotics for another 10 days to get rid of this “marfan” bacteria. If only they had tested me earlier and discovered it was mycoplasma, I could have been treated earlier with a targeted antibiotic.
Azithromycin, being broad-spectrum, did not work for me. I had to be given an antibiotic specially for mycoplasma. I didn’t catch the name as I wasn’t given an itemised receipt.
Juno was given Doxycycline for 14 days – kau tim. My vet gives me an itemised receipt all the time. So I record all the names of the medication in each cat’s medical history which is digitalised.
Vets should be paid more than human doctors, eh? My vets are like walking encyclopedias. Ask them anything and they know. If they don’t, they will find out and let you know. And they have to attend to so many different animals too, all with different physiology. And every vet is a surgeon.

Right arm, blue-black after keeping the IV-port for 3 rounds.

Today, on the left arm. Taken out immediately after the drip. I’m willing to be poked again tomorrow.
