I’m glad to hear and read that many Malaysians, including the Chinese Malaysians, have expressed their anger and annoyance at the selfish and indiscrimate use of fireworks and firecrackers this Chinese New Year.
Here are two reports:
No common sense: https://thesun.my/style-life/going-viral/late-night-fireworks-during-pai-ti-kong-angers-malaysians-please-have-some-common-sense-CH13631074
Just plain angry: https://thesun.my/style-life/going-viral/woman-condemns-those-setting-off-fireworks-at-4am-during-chinese-new-year-FA13643723
I must say I’m slightly amused by the comment, “How many people do you want to scare away for this Chinese New Year?” Yes, not only scare, but annoy.
For me, it’s not just about having no common sense, it’s pure selfishness and a total disregard for animals and people who do not enjoy your loud, deafening and raucous noise. Does it even bother you that your “enjoyment” can cause birds and small animals to die of shock and pets to run away in fright and maybe never be able to return home? Is that what you want to do for your auspicious occasion and the start to your new year?
Can we hope that this government and especially the minister who legalised fireworks and firecrackers in January 2023 will take notice of all these complaints and ban the blasted materials, as they were prior to the legalisation?
We can only hope.

I am one that is angered by those noise and pollution it cause. Many thought that by playing fireworks it scares away evil but without realizing they are the one doing evil by scaring many pet and stray dogs.
I share your anger, CS.
