Have a healthy meatless day!

I really like two youtube doctors who talk about health: Dr Jason Fung and Dr William Li.
Here’s an article that might be useful to all of us: https://www.cnet.com/…/foods-may-decrease-risk-cancer/
A tip I learnt yesterday: Always eat the whole food, not juices, not even smoothies and probably not powders. Eat the whole food.
Reason: The sugar release is slower when you eat the whole food. In any case, you don’t find blenders or spray-drying facilities in the jungle! Animals eat the whole food.
My biggest mistake that led to my (now much improved) fatty liver condition was drinking fruit smoothies every day during the MCO. Four years of damage due to too much blended fruits (too much fructose). Thanks to a routine ultrasound which identified the condition, luckily I was able to repair the damage through diet and exercise in the last 8 months!
What I did:
1. Lose weight (from 54kg to 47kg).
2. Very low-carb diet (this also means cutting out all sugars, especially fructose). I practically cut off rice, noodles, bread, etc.
3. No apples, no grapes, no pears, no mangoes, etc (please google for high fructose fruits for more). Definitely no more fruit smoothies. Only whole low-GI fruits like guava, avocado, kiwi, berries and the occasional banana. Eat the whole fruit.
4. Liver supplements and the green jackfruit powder – YES! It’s a result of intensive research in India.
5. Load up on vegetables – this also has fructose, but in much lower amounts, and I eat the whole food. Five colours, if possible. Cruciferous veges are good.
6. Intermittent fasting (at least 16 hours).
7. Exercise, exercise, exercise! Please include strength-training (muscle-building). As we age, aerobics (like walking) just isn’t enough.
8. Willpower and determination: Mind over matter has always worked for me.
Nowadays, whenever I read advice about eating more “fruit and vegetables”, I really want to say: No, no, more vegetables will do. Fruit was what got me into so much trouble!
Disclaimer: The above is just a sharing of what worked for me. Kindly consult your healthcare professional for personalised and expert advice.
Now, cancer is a very real and scary threat. We really would have to read up on preventative measures through food. For this, Dr William Li has many research findings.
Let’s take care of ourselves, for the sake of our animals!
