Yesterday morning, I carelessly snipped off a small chunk of flesh from my finger while cutting up raw meat for Gerald. The bleeding was frightening and nonstop even though I kept applying pressure to the wound.
I finally got it under control after a few hours. But I started worry about completing all my chores for the day. Practically everything involves washing. And using both hands. Most of all, I worried about how I was going to clean Tabs’ litter box because Tabs uses it very often. Because of her kidney condition, her urination is frequent and the volume each time is a lot. I have to soak up the urine with a cloth, then scoop up the soiled litter, clean up the box thoroughly, and finally, wash up everything with soap and water. So yes, a lot of washing is involved, with both hands. But by hook or by crook, I would have to find a way to do it.
Did Tabs read my mind?
Because throughout yesterday, there was no urine in her litter box. Oh no, oh no…
Did Tabs read my mind and decide to hold back her urine?? Oh dear, no, no, no. Tabs, you must not do that. I can clean your litter box, you have to pee, I kept telling her.
Every half hour, I checked the litter boxes – nothing. Tabs looked “normal”. I palpated her bladder, I did not feel any blockage at all, but I don’t really trust my palpitation.
But she did look and behave normally. And there was no straining either.
It was only in the afternoon that she urinated but it was outside the litter box. Not a lot too. Not her usual volume.
The whole afternoon passed without anymore urination. I got really worried. Please, let there be no urination problem. She already has a kidney issue, please don’t add on a urination issue as well. Please.
It was at about 6.00pm in the evening that Tabs finally, finally, finally urinated a lot inside the litter box. Wow! What a great relief!!
Tabs was eating normally throughout the day too, which was a relief. There were no signs of any discomfort on her part.
I waited through the night for more urine, but there was none.
This morning, I got up at 5.00am to check all the litter boxes. I found a clump of urine ball (most likely Tabs’) in one of them. Phew…
Since then, I have cleaned up another two urine clumps. Both from Tabs. Yes, this is her normal frequency of urination.
Hopefully, it’s all back to normal now.
Cats are such empaths, aren’t they? Be careful what we think.

You have to pee, Tabs. Please don’t hold it back. I will clean your litter boxes, you don’t have to worry at all.
