Rey has the sniffles (off to the vet’s)

Rey started sneezing on Friday, after he finished his course of antibiotics for the earlier infection. By Wednesday, he had already regained his appetite and was eating very well.

I monitored the sneezing hoping it would resolve itself. But it didn’t. By yesterday evening, the sneezing had increased so we took him to the vet’s this morning.

The vet checked and Rey has no fever. His nasal discharge is clear and there was no presence of any bacteria in it. So the vet said he didn’t need any antibiotics. She prescribed Vetri DMG to boost his immunity and Cetirizine (an antihistamine) to address the sneezing.

Rey’s lungs were also clear and it is most likely an upper respiratory issue.

And Rey’s weight has actually increased to 6.88kg too, a result of all those extra meals and the boost in his appetite during his recovery from the previous infection.

The vet said that if the nasal discharge turns thick, yellow or green, Rey would need antibiotics.  For now, let’s hope he recovers with the immune booster and the antihistamine.

Luckily, the sneezing has not dampened his appetite in any way.

Get well soon, Rey!
