Cleo is earthing
I think Cleo is earthing for comfort and healing. That is why she sits on the grass, rocks and soil. She responds to me when I sit next to her. I guess animals want to be close to Nature. And of course, they need tender loving care too. I’m so glad Cleo is home, surrounded…

Cleo’s morning and keeping her comfortable
I’m afraid I do not have any good news to share. Despite giving her the Mirtazapine, Cleo did not have any appetite this morning. I even steamed fish for her, thinking that the change of food and flavour might encourage her to eat, but she merely licked a bit of it. Cleo’s hind legs are…

Cleo this evening
There has been no bloody stools after the one I reported in the afternoon. It wasn’t efficient feeding Cleo the crushed Metrogyl tablet and mixing the Tranexamine Acid (TXA) powder (from the capsule) with pasty food. Perhaps only half of it got in. So tomorrow, I’m going to try to plonk the Metrogyl tablet and…

Sucralfate thrice daily now for Cleo
Seeing how Cleo passed out bloody stools just now, the vet advised to increase the Sucralfate to three times a day and the hold off on the blood thinner first (Clopidogrel). The sun was so hot, so we carried Cleo back to the cage. At least it’s not direct sunlight. The afternoon sun can be…

The healing sunshine for Cleo
Luckily I managed to reach Cleo’s vet before she left the clinic for the day. As for the bloody stools, she says to leave out the Clopidogrel (blood thinner) for now as it may worsen the platelet function. The tranexamic acid and Sucralfate should address the bleeding. Maybe it needs more time to work. Meanwhile……

Bloody stools from Cleo
It just happened. I saw Cleo passing out small amounts of bloody stools. I have already texted the vet and hope she sees it before the clinic closes. This may mean that there is still some bleeding somewhere, but where? There are no fluids in her abdominal scan taken yesterday evening. Somewhere in her digestive…

Cleo is home!!! (blood pressure back up)
The vet texted this morning to say Cleo was very talkative (mewing a lot to greet everyone!) and the best news ever – her blood pressure is back up to 100!! This is the greatest relief of the day! So Cleo could already come home! Yay! This photo was sent by the vet first thing…

Indy’s (still) soft poop
Ever since finishing Promax and even though I started him on Fera Organics, Indy’s poop has been soft, but at least it’s well-formed. It is no longer “oatmeal”. I think after finishing Fero Organics, I might try him on Adored Beasts’ Love Bugs. This would be another “safe” and basic probiotic. Adored Beasts’ bestseller for…

Visiting Cleo this evening (now low blood pressure)
Ming-Yi and I visited Cleo this evening. I had thought about and had planned to ask if I could bring Cleo home since nothing much can be done for her anymore. I might as well bring her home where she is more comfortable in familiar surroundings. The vet agreed and proceeded to give her the…

Cleo Day 3 morning (kidneys deteriorating)
Today is Day 3 at the clinic. My husband and I reached there at around 10am. Cleo had urinated a lot and also defecated a small bit in the litter box. Cleo certainly looked “fine”, but alas, this is not reflected in any of the blood test results. I finger-fed her some wet food (Hill’s…

Visiting Cleo this evening (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy)
It was raining cats and dogs, but I still drove to PJ to see Cleo. Just before I left, the vet texted to say she detected a murmur in Cleo’s heart and did a pro-BNP blood test to check. Cleo has hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) which is the same as what Cow Mau has, only in…

Cleo: Day 2 at the clinic
The vet sent this photo at 9.45am this morning, shortly after the clinic opened. She said Cleo ate a bit of the leftover food through the night. It wasn’t enough, though, so they syringe-fed her. Cleo also appears calmer and more settled now. She urinated a fair amount but there was no defecation. I visited…

Visiting Cleo at the clinic (hospitalisation)
For new readers, Cleo is 16 years old plus (born on 19th February 2007 in my daughter’s wardrobe). She was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease in September 2019 (four years ago) and has been on subcut since then. On 17th September 2023, a routine blood test revealed that her creatinine level had shot up to…

Cleo, Cow Mau and Indy to the vet’s – it’s Cleo (hospitalised)
I didn’t know who vomited the blood which I found this morning, so I took Cleo, Cow Mau and Indy to the vet’s. Until the time we left the house, there was still no abnormal behaviour from any of them. The vet suspected it could be Indy so he was checked first. Indy’s ear-prick blood…
