Hiro to the vet’s (FIV+ and anaemic)
Since yesterday afternoon, Hiro had been sleeping for long hours. By evening, he was still sleeping and he skipped dinner too. That was unusual. This morning, Hiro didn’t wake up when I woke up, which is again, very unusual. He would always greet us every morning and in fact, at any time. He would greet…

FIE = Feline Inappropriate Elimination
I’ve been listening to many videos today, on litter box training, mostly by Mr Jackson Galaxy but then I came across this one by Dr Sarah Wooten, a veterinarian. It’s good! FIE = Feline Inappropriate Elimination According to Dr Wooten in this video, FIE accounts for 50% of why owners do not want their cats…

The Blondies, their flu and other matters
It all started with Indra getting that red eye. Was it the flu or did she just accidentally scratch her eye somewhere while playing? We have no way of determining it, so the vet didn’t want to take any chances and started her on Doxy paste and an eyedrop. After four days, Akira started sneezing.…

Indra and Akira to the vet’s
Akira started sneezing this morning, so I made an appointment for her and I might as well take Indra for a check-up too as her eye recovery is a bit slow. Despite Indra’s red eye and Akira’s sneezing, their appetite is fantastic, so I wasn’t so worried. They are also on Vetri DMG already. I…

WinWin’s amazing progress (an update from Survivor Shelter)
WinWin was diagnosed with IMHA three weeks ago and only given 2 more days to live by the vet. But with the loving and concerted care of a caregiver and Ms Ong’s determination to see her through, WinWin has made amazing (yes, unbelievable) progress over these three weeks. Her blood PCV went from 7.8% to…

Only two Blondies vaccinated, Indra has an eye infection
This afternoon, I took the Blondies (aka Princesses) and Hiro to the vet’s. The Blondies are due for their first vaccination, and Hiro for another round of deworming. But yesterday I had already noticed that Indra’s left eye was very red and swollen. So I went to that pharmacy and bought Nicol eyedrops and starting…

The importance of vaccination and related issues
I had chats with three veterinarians yesterday and this is what I’ve learnt about about vaccination for street animals (including pets, of course). The discussion stemmed from my earlier chats with certain feeders who told me that when they got their newly neutered street animals vaccinated, some died. Of course we all know that if…

WinWin’s updates – from Survivor Shelter
Ref: https://animalcare.my/2023/04/01/winwins-story-a-sharing-from-survivor-shelter/ If you remember, exactly one week ago, the vet only gave WinWin two more days to live. But under the care of a dedicated fosterer, WinWin made slow but steady progress and today, Ms Ong took WinWin for her next Darbepoetin jab. What WinWin has is IMHA (immune-mediated haemolytic anaemia) and the mortality rate…

Please confine your neutered animals until full recovery
I just spoke to an acquaintance who told me about his female dog. The dog was spayed, but was discharged after 2 days. He was not advised that he should confine the dog for another few more days before releasing her. So he released her into his large compound to be free again and mingle…

WinWin’s story – a sharing from Survivor Shelter
Survivor Shelter’s founder is Ms Ong and although she isn’t at her shelter every day, the shelter is run by a very responsible and caring caretaker. The caretaker will inform Ms Ong the moment any dog is ill. So, about a week ago, WinWin fell ill. Ms Ong went in to the shelter to take…

Misty’s surgical wound has healed
Misty was lying on her back this morning so I was able to take these photos. The wound has healed. But a few more days would be better. She’s more relaxed now. There are no more cardboard boxes for her to tear.
