Today the day time guard was off, so I went down to feed Kelly.
At 7am – breakfast
I went down thinking she would eat kibble since that’s her normal breakfast. Well, Kelly refused to eat the kibble, even after multiple times of coaxing her. She just refused. So I had to walk back up to get canned food, and she actually followed me halfway up the road. She has never gone up so far before.
Luckily I quickly got the canned food and went back down, carried her back to the guardhouse.
She was actually hungry. Very hungry, but she made sure I got the canned food for her.
For the first time ever, she sapu habis one can.
At 1.30pm – lunch
For lunch, I tried the kibble again and guess what, Kelly stood her ground and absolutely refused to eat it. So there I went back up the road to get a can of food again. It looks like she just associates me with canned food, nothing but canned food. No kibble from me. Ok. Kibble only from the guard. In any case, the kibble is Monge that is supplied by me too. The other neighbour’s contribution was only a one-off.
I texted the guard (who is on leave, but is very concerned about Kelly). He said even with kibble, Kelly will take her time to eat. She doesn’t finish it at one go. So, it looks like Kelly is a kibble-grazer too, like our Riley and Juno.
Ok, fine. Eat your canned food then. As long as you eat something.
I went back to get a can of Cindy’s WholePrey this time. Kelly prefers tuna, actually, but I wanted her to have some variety and protein rotation.
But Gerald had followed me all the way down to the guardhouse (he’s never been so far), and Kelly had an encounter with Gerald. She wanted to chase Gerald back up the road. Fierce little guardcat, aren’t you?
See this? So I quickly grabbed Gerald and took him home, confined him in Bunny’s Place, and went back to clean up after Kelly’s lunch.
I left some kibble below the table, in case she wanted to snack.
5.30pm – dinner
Kelly came out from her hiding place when she saw me. She has a few hiding places. I was initially worried she might have gone to the VIP’s house, but apparently, she only goes there when it rains. At other times, there are a few hiding places around the guardhouse that she likes.
This time I only brought canned food. Her favourite – Cindy’s Recipe Original Tuna with Katsuobushi.
She almost finished the whole can this round.
Based on the amount I placed at lunch time, assuming Kelly ate it, she did eat some kibble in the previous four hours. Or, did some other cat eat it? I won’t know. The replacement guard has no interest in Kelly at all. It’s good enough that he doesn’t chase her away. Yes, “if you cannot help them, at least don’t harm them”. He doesn’t, which is good enough.
The night guard will take over duty at the guard post soon and he will feed Kelly too.
Tomorrow will be another day!
