A special thank you to Mary Yap (tshirt sales)
We’d like to say a special thank you to Mary Yap, our volunteer, for helping us sell our tshirts to her friends and colleagues. Mary single-handedly sold a total of 53 tshirts in various sizes! Many thanks, too, to Mary’s friends and colleagues for supporting us. That’s Suki posing with the tshirts. The pawprints colours…

Meiji’s pups
Meiji brought her pups down from Raub today, and Mandy took her to a vet in Klang. Of the five puppies, only one was tested positive for parvo. The rest are still ok. Meiji is now on her way back to Raub, with vitamins, supplements and anti-diarrhoea medicine for the whole family. Two puppies are boarding…

Another happy story for a Sunday morning
My mum has been updating me daily on Sean (and now, Tara). It seems now, Tara is the fierce one, and will not take nonsense from playful Sean. Well, it is no surprise since Tara is older, and Sean is still a puppy. Tara’s appetite is good today. Sean’s is, well, as usual, VERY good.…

All lives are precious – updates and reminiscence
Good morning everyone. It’s Sunday morning, and I start off today with a touching story of the reunion between Sandra and her mum yesterday. Sandra was the injured puppy in the colony at the abandoned house, looked after by Oliver Kua. Oliver managed to take Sandra for treatment and surgery, then Sandra was boarded at…

PJay, on the road to recovery
Ainey and I dropped in to see PJay today. He is on the road to recovery. The surgery took 2 hours where the vet inserted a metal plate to correct the fractured femur on his leg. PJay is expected to be able to stand in a few days’ time. For the time being, he is…

Roger is doing well
Here’s another gentledog, Roger. Roger was diagnosed with tick fever a few days ago. He has responded well to treatment and is now looking good, and feeling good! Roger is estimated to be about 5-6 years old. He is very gentle. He is also up for adoption.

Jackie is much, much better now
I almost could not recognise Jackie today. She looked much, much better. I was actually looking at the other cages, looking for her! Little did I know that there she was, the dog standing up and wagging her tail at me! This is far cry from what she was a few weeks ago when all…

Perky, Sweetie and Russell
Our next stop was back in Subang Jaya, to discharge Perky, Sweetie and Russell. Ainey says she will foster Perky since Perks is very small-sized. So, Sweetie and Russell would have to go back to PAWS for the time being. The two “sisters”, Perky and Sweetie. Perky is the more active of the two, and…

Wendy still down, Tara goes home
Wendy was still very down. It pained my heart very much to see her twitching. Wendy was lying down. But the vet said the good thing is that she still finishes all her food. Her appetite gives us hope. Fight on, Wendy. Get well soon. Wendy is still on the drip. Meanwhile, Tara’s appetite has…

An SOS from Meiji
First thing this morning, I received an SOS from Meiji. She was down here in Setapak, and had brought with her, two of Kwai Chee’s puppies. Meiji suspects both were down with the Parvo virus. I offered her to bring the puppies for an diagnosis and treatment at our panel vet in Puchong, so off…

Updates on Cinderella
Cinderella was one of the many dogs we managed to rescue from the Klang Dog Pound in December. Cindy at the pound on 15th Dec. Rescuing Cindy on 16th Dec. Cindy being examined by the vet after she was rescued. The vet believed her wounds have been caused by acid scald. Surprisingly also, she…

What other countries do, and what we can/should do
When the earthquake occured in Szechuan, efforts were made to rescue the pandas. When the bush fires happened in Australia, efforts were made to save the koalas. Now, an earthquake has happened in Haiti, causing massive destruction and suffering to humans and animals. I read that some efforts are being directed to help the stray…

Photos of the abandoned dogs in Kuchai Lama
I have been highlighting this case for a few days now. Apparently (according to the neighbours), this family had kept many (as many as 20 at one time) dogs in their house compound. Two weeks ago, they moved out, and left all the dogs behind. The dogs do not have any food. A good samaritan…

Thus have I heard…
I have written about this before, but I think it’s timely that I repeat myself again….In Thailand, the people are very animal-friendly. The Thais seldom ever abandon their pets. Thailand actively promotes and practises TNR – the stray animals are neutered, their left ear is tipped and released back into the colony. These tipped-eared animals…
