This is from Julie: Dear Kah YeinI have come to terms that Little Nice Nice has passed on. She was a brave little cat. • Rest in peace, NiceNice

I received an urgent call from Julie this evening.  It seems NiceNice was suddenly in a critical condition.  Her heart was beating very fast and she did not look well at all.  I met Julie at the clinic, and the vet said NiceNice was dying.  Her body was extremely cold and she was very weak. …

  • Before you drink the next cup of milk…

Sometimes we think the most heinous cruelty to animals exists in the slaughter-houses that produces meat, but cruelty also exists in the dairy industry and in egg-production. I stopped drinking milk a long time ago when I found out about the cruelty that exists in dairy farms; how cows are artificially-impregnated to give birth so that they…

  • Updates on NiceNice

We are now all eagerly awaiting Dr Susanna to set a date for NiceNice’s first acupuncture treatment.  Meanwhile, Julie says NiceNice has been urinating and defecating on her own.  She even licks her own face and legs, and keeps herself as clean as possible.  NiceNice is simply adorable, and we hope acupuncture can help her.

  • Protest against the animal testing laboratory in Malaysia

The use of animal-testing on products for humans is ineffective, wasteful and downright cruel.  There are alternatives: http://advocacy.britannica.com/blog/advocacy/2007/09/scientific-alternatives-to-animal-testing-a-progress-report/ A foreign company is planning to set up an animal-testing laboratory in Melaka.  Please help stop this project by letting your voice and vote be heard.  The Petition: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/StopPlansForAnimalTestingMalaysiaThe Protest: Time : 12:45 pm (organised by PETA)…

  • Petition to amend Revised Animal Act 1953

Cruelty happens everywhere, whether to animals or humans.  They key to correcting this social malady is empathy and education, but sadly, these sometimes do not work on many humans.  Hence, laws and punishment are required as deterrents to reduce the incidence of cruelty.   The Animal Act was revised in 2006, but its implementation and enforcement do…

  • Updates on Shueu Fen’s cats

This week, we sponsored the spaying of two female cats brought in by Shueu Fen.  Initially, the plan was to release them after recovery but now, Shueu Fen’s mother has decided to adopt them since they won’t reproduce anymore.  Isn’t that wonderful?  The two cats have a home now.
