  • Tabs’ third medicated bath

This is Tabs’ third medicated bath for her balding issue. I’m using PyoHex shampoo. Seven minutes of soaking. It’s a hot day, so she dries fast. That red circular spot has completely healed. The hair is slowly but surely growing back in the bald spots too. She’s got one vial of Advocate spot-on, and will…

  • Look at Putin now, an FIP warrior treated with Molnupiravir

It was sometime in August 2023 that my friend rescued Putin, a very skinny and sickly-looking street cat, diagnosed with dry FIP. My friend’s vet recommended Molnupiravir, a medicine from India, used for Covid-19 in humans. My friend also could not afford the expensive GS-441524 treatment at the time. So, Putin was on Molnupiravir, an…

  • Ginger’s paw wound – Day 5

All is looking good for Ginger. It’s a rainy morning. That is Smurfy, can you see Kai at the far end? She is guarding her territory from the lookout. Minnie and Lynx. This rattan chair belongs to Minnie. That’s Robin. He always greets me whenever I come out so it’s actually difficult to take his…

  • Ginger’s paw wound – Day 4

Ginger is no longer isolating himself up on the platforms. He’s eating breakfast with everyone else, and also eating wet food. Today, he finishes the Meloxicam (anti-inflammatory) and there are another four more days of the Clavumox (antibiotics). I am thinking of reducing the Tramadol already. I think he’s okay.

  • Ginger’s paw wound – Day 3

Today is Day 3 of Ginger’s paw wound since treatment started. He is no longer limping at all, but he still prefers to stay up high. And he only wants kibble for breakfast. For dinner, he eats raw food like everyone else. Way up high!

  • Ginger’s paw wound – Day 2

Yesterday, Ginger preferred to stay on the platforms. I did not put the e-collar on him all the time, though. He did not lick his wound at all, so I only use it for about an hour after I cleaned the wound and applied the Fucidin to prevent him from licking off the cream. He…

  • Ginger to the vet’s (paw wound)

Ginger did not come for breakfast this morning. He had gone up to the highest platform (the lookout) and was sitting alone. Something was definitely not right. After feeding everyone, we managed to get him to come down but he was clearly limping. There was a small black spot (it felt like a scab) on…

  • Tabs’ medicated bath

I gave Tabs her second medicated bath today, with Pyohex. The vet says to let the shampoo stay on for 7 minutes (the bottle actually says 10 minutes), but the best we can do is 6 minutes before Tabs starts to get very restless. I do understand, 7 minutes is a very long time to…

  • Tabs’ red spot isn’t fungal

It’s been four days now since the culture was done to determine if Tabs’ red spot is fungal. Well, it isn’t. The vet confirmed that today. And that red spot is so much better already. I’ve been applying the Triderm cream three times a day. This is the culture. If it’s fungal, the colour would…

  • Updates on Sun Sun (from Lee Kim Hai)

Sun Sun’s case had been very baffling. Three days after being spayed, she had fever and appeared to be weak, Mdm Lee took her to the vet and it was diagnosed as mastitis. Medication was given and the prognosis was good. But soon after discharge, she bit off her sutures and had to be sent…

  • Tabs to the vet’s (balding problem)

So I took Tabs to the vet’s this afternoon to get her checked. The red round spot looked rather suspicious, so the vet did a scraping to check under the microscope.  Only 1 fungal spore was found. But I had also made the mistake of bathing Tabs this morning so I might have cleaned off…

  • Updates on Grey (from Lee Soo Farng)

Photos and news on Grey! For the very, very first time last night, Grey used the litter box for big business! Soo Farng was totally overjoyed! But it was short-lived joy…. This morning, it was back to pooping outside the litter box again. Still, last night was a huge achievement. Work in progress, it’s okay.…

Here are photos of Grey with his new toys! Grey also had an acupuncture session sponsored by Ms Yim Soi Chee on Tuesday this week. Grey was rescued when he was spotted dragging his hind legs (due to an injury at the automatic gate). We did a special fundraising for his treatment which included an…
