  • Gerald’s setback (fever again)

We were all prepared to take Gerald home this morning, but the vet texted that Gerald’s fever went up again last night, to 39.4 degrees. Yesterday morning, it was 38.6 degrees, so it means the fever is back again. The vet wants to monitor him for another day. We went to visit him and he…

  • Good morning, Juno!

I woke up at 5.45am this morning so that I would have some time with Juno. True enough, it took me 50 minutes to coax her to eat! She must be female then; she’s eating like a Blondie. Definitely not like our Monsters! But the good news is that I was greeted with the litter…

  • Gerald eats!

I went back this afternoon to see Gerald, bringing raw chicken gizzards. But he refused to eat any of them. I resorted to putting the pieces of gizzards into his mouth and this, he ate. But the vet said he has to eat by himself. Luckily I also brought canned food…so I tried this next.…

  • Gerald’s temperature and blood glucose are DOWN!!

Yay!! The vet updated this morning that as of last night, Gerald’s temperature had gone down to 39.5 degrees and the blood glucose had gone down from the initial 19.04 to 11. That’s good news. The vet also said he’s much more alert this morning. The moment I stepped into the clinic, I heard the…

  • Updates on Gerald

There isn’t much updates except for the fact that there is a high level of glucose detected in Gerald’s urine and he is a bit low on potassium. The vet will start him on a potassium supplement. So, as far as we now know, Gerald’s blood glucose is high and he also has glucosuria (glucose…

  • Gerald is hospitalised (shoulder inflammation, very high temperature)

Gerald didn’t look “too sick”, but as with cats, they always have a very high threshold for pain, so we would never know. We went to the vet’s without an appointment and had to wait for a slot today as all the vets were all fully booked. When our turn finally came (so grateful we…

  • Found Gerald!!!

I have found Gerald!!!!!!! But he is limping and he feels hot. Will be taking him to the vet’s as soon as they open today. This morning, Creamy was sitting atop my car, waiting for breakfast. For a moment there, I thought it was Gerald, but no, it was Creamy. I fed Creamy and asked…

  • Ginger’s inhaler

All’s going well with the daily procedure using this Aerokat chamber to administer the inhaler for Ginger, as long as he doesn’t stay up on the platforms! Sometimes he does and we would just have to wait for him to come down. Yesterday, a big fight broke out between Ginger and Smurfy on the lookout.…

  • Ginger to the vet’s (right lung inflammation)

Today was Ginger’s check-up of his paw wound and his lungs. The paw wound has healed. But his lung X-Rays show that the right lung is still inflamed. There is no deterioration or improvement of this condition. It doesn’t look like there’s cancer (luckily!) so we can rule out the lung-digit syndrome, which is rare.…

  • Tabs’ 4th medicated “massage”

It’s been rather cold for the last few days. The weather is changing from scorching hot previously to a much cooler temperature. I was waiting for a really hot day to give Tabs another medicated bath, but it did not happen. And she needs another medicated bath because she’s really been biting all her subcut…

  • Nomi and Miao on a rainy day (updates from their aunt)

Nomi and Miao’s adopters’ aunt, Mrs Leow, very kindly updated us on Nomi and Miao today.  She went to visit them and both are doing well. In fact, Nomi is the same size as her mother, Miao, now. Both were cuddling up together on the rainy morning and according to Mrs Leow, they mewed very…

  • Grey is 3.5kg now! (updates from Lee Soo Farng)

It is always so nice to receive updates from caregivers of the animals we’ve had the privilege of helping before. Here’s Grey! Grey is now 3.5kg and has had his second vaccination. He will be neutered in a week’s time. Thank you so much for the updates, Soo Farng.  And thank you so much for…

  • Tabs is looking much better

After starting on Fortekor, Tabs appears to be in much better spirits! She definitely looks brighter and is also more cheerful. We had to change the pillowcase for her special favourite pillow because Indra keeps sleeping on it. There’s Indra, taking over the pillow again!

  • Tabs to the vet’s (PCKD check-up)

Along with Ginger, we also took Tabs to the vet’s for her PCKD check-up today. Unlike Ginger, Tabs’ CKD has progressed. Granted, hers is actually a PCKD and not CKD alone. Tabs has polycystic chronic kidney disease whereby multiple cysts presents in both her kidneys. It is a structural deformity and there is nothing we…

  • Ginger to the vet’s (CKD and paw wound check)

We took Ginger and Tabs to the vet for their CKD progression check-up today. I will talk about Ginger first. Ginger’s paw wound hasn’t completely healed yet. When the vet removed the scab, there was still a bit of bleeding, and it hasn’t dried up yet. Still a little bit of swelling. He doesn’t need…
