• Creamy returns again

This morning, when I went out to feed the Porch Cats, all three were there. Oh dear….what’s the relationship dynamics now? Just yesterday, husband says he saw Gerald chasing Creamy out of the porch. Hmm…really? I wasn’t there so I don’t really know, but if Gerald did chase Creamy out, I’d say that’s a good…

  • Fireworks had been banned in our country since 1955 until last year

Fireworks have been illegal in our country since 1955 and are classified in the same category as dynamite. But last year, this government legalised it: https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2023/02/876187/cabinet-agrees-legalise-fireworks-firecrackers The reason? It’s in the news above. All I can say is, “Go figure.” Legalise a product to prevent smuggling and collect taxes? Go figure, folks. This below is…

  • So close and so comfortable (the Blondies)

The only time I can get the Blondies together to eat a meal is when I offer them kibble, particularly the RC Dental kibble. They love that! It’s junk time!! I sure hope this dental kibble helps to “brush their teeth”, at least a little bit because it is impossible for me to physically brush…

  • China’s fireworks ban sparks fiery debate

The news: https://www.reuters.com/world/china/chinas-fireworks-ban-sparks-fiery-debate-ahead-lunar-new-year-2023-12-29/ Ancient Chinese people thought that lighting loud firecrackers and fireworks would scare away the “nian”, the mythical monster on the eve of Chinese New Year (note: only on the eve, so the fable goes). That’s what the ancient people thought. But don’t we know better now? Looks like we just don’t. And…

  • Worshipping Bastet?

According to ancient Egyptian history, Bastet was the goddess of protection, pleasure, and the bringer of good health. She had the head of a cat and a slender female body. Bastet was the daughter of Ra, sister of Sekhmet, the wife of Ptah, and the mother of Mihos. Since the Second Dynasty, Bastet was worshiped as a deity, most…

  • Riley’s smart smuggle operation

We are talking about these small balls that Dorami plays with. Dorami and Mina are staying with us for a few days, but for their safety, they are confined in the big bedroom upstairs. Riley, the KPC, follows me up to feed Dorami and Mina for every meal. For the past few days, I’ve been…

  • Another “strike lottery” meal for the Blondies!

A meal where everyone ate! As you can see, everyone is eating at a different spot in the garden. I didn’t manage to take all the photos, though. I was too busy replenishing everyone’s bowl. So, even though very often I miss my daily walk, I think walking to and fro in the garden just…

  • Creamy returns again….Gerald is terrified

Creamy came this morning. Out of goodwill, I offered him some food. He only came for the raw food. My guess is, he doesn’t get it from his house. Misty was here too. But Gerald was no where to be seen. I thought Gerald hadn’t come yet. But I was wrong. Poor Gerald was actually…

  • The keto diet for dogs with cancer

I am reminded, through someone who recently asked us for tips on palliative care for her dog with 3rd stage nasal cancer and adrenal mass, that years ago, we had written about the keto diet for dogs with cancer back in 2017. This person was happy to share today that her dog is doing well…

  • A “strike lottery” meal for the Blondies!

Today is the Blondies’ first birthday! Happy Birthday, Indra! You are the youngest. Happy Birthday, Akira. You are the middle child. Happy Birthday, Kai, the eldest! Good job, Samantha! I say it is a “strike lottery” meal because everyone ate…haha. It’s rare to get everyone to eat a meal. Normally, one or two will boycott…

  • Our first visitor for Chinese New Year – Creamy returns!!

This was not entirely unexpected. I was hoping Creamy would return, a better cat and no longer a bully. Voila! He turned up this morning at our front door with Misty. Gerald was not here anymore at that time; he usually eats breakfast and goes off to gallivant a bit. So I’m not entirely sure…

  • After the dreadful fireworks

I’m so glad Misty came back this morning. But it was only Misty initially. I fed her first while I went out to call of Gerald. Misty ate a little bit; she must be quite hungry. It was only about five minutes later that I heard the familiar mewing. Gerald is back!!! Poor cats…I wonder…

  • Happy 1st Birthday, Blondies!!

The Blondies celebrate their 1st birthday today, coincidentally with this year’s Chinese New Year! Exactly one year ago, on 10th February 2023, the Blondies were born at 12noon, with Kai leading, followed by Akira and Indra, each one 30 minutes apart. In cat years, the Blondies are equivalent to 15 year-old teenagers now!
