• Dr S. Jekyll and Mrs S. Hyde

That’s Samantha Jekyll and Samantha Hyde for you! She’s got two personalities. When she is with her kittens, she also behaves like a kitten. Totally manja, lets me pat and stroke her. But the moment no kitten is with her, she is a wild, feral cat again. She will avoid me, hiss and growl at me.…

  • The kittens are climbing all over!!

Between cut-up chicken meat and Coco&Joe’s, they prefer the latter. Smart kittens! Samantha now eats cut-up meat, Cubgrub, Coco&Joe’s and Primal Freeze-Dried. Akira climbed up the chair yesterday. Aww…big sister Riley is looking after her. It reminds me of Cow Mau looking after Tiger. They were just 3 months apart in age, but Cow Mau…

  • Samantha’s lesion update – it is NOT fungal

The clinic updated me yesterday. Samantha’s culture came back negative for fungus, so it isn’t fungal at all. It is healing well. Slowly, but surely.

  • The relationship dynamics in our porch (Creamy, Misty, Gerald)

(Kah Yein’s sharing) So, all three of them came this morning. Phew! The dynamics today is such that Creamy has teamed up with Misty to bully poor, poor Gerald. Ini dua orang sudah berkawan baik. Poor Gerald is so terrified of BOTH of them until he did not dare to eat. I had to feed…

  • Who is the architect of planet earth’s ecosystem and our existence?

The answer is here: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/71YZu162stE It is the largest organism in the world – the Mycelia Mat Mushroom!  It is as large as 665 football fields! This organism is the architect of our existence! Salute! (This is Kah Yein’s sharing)

  • Cats are (almost) perfect!

Good morning! This is Joy.  I am a member of AnimalCare’s Tag Team, and this is my first sharing.   I had always imagined what a “Perfect World” would look like and this sentence came to my mind: The World will never be perfect (in our eyes), but Cats are (almost) PERFECT.   The pictures…

  • Creamy is back!!!

I was very worried the whole of yesterday when Creamy did not turn up for food at all. The whole day. I worry that Misty, being the gangster that she is, had driven Creamy away from our porch. Gerald couldn’t have scared Creamy away because the dynamics is such that Gerald is the most mild-mannered…

  • The one thing I’ve failed to teach Riley

As clever as Riley is, the one thing I’ve failed to teach her is to eat in the kitchen with Tabs. She still has to eat in her own room upstairs. Maybe the eating process puts her in a vulnerable position, so she will only eat when she is alone in her room. Riley has…

  • The huge fight between Cow Mau and Rey

Finally…Cow Mau could not take anymore of Rey’s nonsense. A HUGE fight occurred yesterday morning. I had to use the water hose to break them up. But both refused to budge. So both ended up totally wet. Finally, I managed to separate them and chased Rey back to the catio. But in no time, Rey…

  • A new protein for the kittens and Sam!

The kittens ate raw chicken and cooked sardines today! This is Coco&Joe’s Chicken & Fish recipe. Just as a gentle reminder, cats absolutely CANNOT eat raw fish. So no sushi for cats, please. Raw fish contains thiaminase which destroys the thiamine (vit B) in their body and this can be fatal. Please see below for…

  • Of biologically-appropriate food and evolution

Some weeks back, an old friend contacted me to ask if I knew where to buy vegetarian food for dogs and cats. I immediately told him that dogs are omnivores, so while some dogs are known to be able to live on a vegetarian diet (provided it is nutritionally balanced), cats are obligate carnivores and…

  • Sam and her kittens eating 100% raw food

I’m switching Samantha from Primal Freeze-Dried to Coco&Joe’s. Seeing her kittens eat, she is also following now. And for the first time today, Indra can finally pick up raw meat from a plate!! It’s an achievement for little Indra! This is Coco&Joe’s for Samantha. Her kittens are also eating it already. Healing well. Indra eats…

  • A kindergarten teachers – please take the lead

We hope that kindergartens and their teachers will take the lead in inculcating kindness to animals to their students. Start them young with simple activities. Jayden, our one year-old street cat feeder!

  • Jayden, the youngest street cat feeder here!

This morning, Jayden went out to the porch, took the kibble jar and went towards the gate to look for Gerald and Creamy! All by himself!! But I had already fed Gerald and Misty this morning. Creamy doesn’t come in the mornings nowadays. Only evenings. But as though reading our minds, Gerald came!! And he…

  • The need for humane education in school curricula (published by FMT – thank you!)

I did not know that our open letter to the minister of education was actually published by FMT on 15th December 2022, a day after I sent it to the various online newspapers until someone wrote to me yesterday! Thank you very much, FMT! Here’s the letter with FMT’s comments too: https://www.freemalaysiatoday.com/category/top-lifestyle/2022/12/15/the-need-for-humane-education-in-school-curricula/
