• A project that almost took off (dogs in a particular building)

We were in a discussion yesterday to help some dogs in a certain location. The news was that the presence of these dogs were reported to the authorities because they were a “kacau-ganggu”. As we all know, when there is a complaint, the authorities will act. In fact, they sometimes also act without complaints as…

  • Updates on the Kota Bharu Neutering Project

Here are some updates: Ms Amy has got quite a good price for the neutering of female dogs from a local vet in Kota Bharu. The only issue now is the days of the week where the vet can do the neutering at this price. It can only be done on Sun-Thurs (the working days…

  • My swollen hand and Queen Cleo

Why is my hand swollen? Subcut for Cleo yesterday, that’s why. I’ve been able to do her subcut single-handedly for a few months now, but yesterday, Cleo decided it should end at 150ml and not 200ml, so when I did not obey her, she bit me…real hard. Cleo, although already 16 years old (she was…

  • The novel protein quest continues with Cubgrub’s Quail!

For new readers, I’m on a quest to introduce novel proteins to our cats. A novel protein is a protein that is not in their regular diet. The purpose of introducing it is to decrease the chances of food allergy due to eating a certain protein for too long. Food allergy can lead to various…

  • The kitties’ updates and Gerald’s “visit”

The kitties are back on track, weight-wise!! So it looks like they need a “catalyst” to make them go for the nipple. Each time I syringe-feed them, they will go for the nipple right after. So what they need is this “catalyst” to stimulate appetite? Anyway, it works…so far. Date Time Kai Akira Indra 11-Feb…

  • Towels and cardboard

The kittens are using the towels and cardboard. Smart kitties!

  • Kai needs supplementation

Because Samantha had shifted her kittens under the ottoman, it’s hard to check on them, so I just let them be all day, with the occasional peek. But when I took the kittens’ weight at 6pm, I had a shock of my life. Kai only gained 2g over the last 12 hours. Oh no…this is…

  • All three can nurse now

Samantha chose a good spot to shift to. Under the ottoman is a much larger space, so now, all three kittens can nurse at the same time. This is the first time, in five days, I’ve seen Samantha allowing all three to nurse at the same time. Maybe it is because she finally has enough…

  • Samantha “shifts nests”

In Chinese, we call it “shifting nests”. Right on the dot, today’s the 5th day and Samantha has shifted the kittens to a new location. This was last night’s late night photo where Riley and I checked on the kittens. And this morning I found the box empty. I looked around and finally found Samantha…

  • Treatment of rescue dogs in earthquake-hit Turkey ignites animal rights debate

This letter is from a Korean: https://www.koreatimes.co.kr/www/nation/2023/02/113_345349.html We also received a video showing how bad the condition of some rescue dogs are, how they are in pain and suffering and not given any rest. We have no way of authenticating that video so we cannot publish it. If the video is authentic (it has to be…
