• What has Rey snatched from the Super Seniors now?

Poo spots!! Yes, Rey has snatched poo spots from the Super Seniors. First, he took Cleo’s poo spot on the sandpit. The sandpit is so long, why must he take Cleo’s spot? Remember Rey has been antagonising Cleo? Maybe this is part of his project to antagonise her further? So she took Cleo’s spot, and…

  • Updates on Kinta Dog – half the surgery done

According to Mr Lu, the vet only did half the surgery yesterday as the “growth” was way too big and not all could be removed. Kinta Dog is recuperated at the vet’s now and the next surgery will be done next week to remove all of it. I’m sorry if the information above is not…

  • Riley eats and blinks!!

Riley did not eat all afternoon. But by evening, I took down her un-eaten food and replaced it with fresh canned food (Back2Nature) and when I went up to check – it was finished!!! That’s three-quarters of a can. Then I replenished it with another whole can. Riley has come out of the carrier and…

  • Updates on the Kinta Dog (thought to have TVT)

For those who are new to the blog, a young lady from Ipoh sought our help to rescue a female dog with visible TVT.  We enlisted the help of friends who contacted Persatuan Pencinta Haiwan Kinta Perak. This group did the rescue over 3 days and the dog is under their care now. We have…

  • How old is Riley?

The vet’s is fully booked until next Tuesday for surgeries. So I made an appointment for a check-up and if Riley is not old enough to be neutered, perhaps we could deworm and vaccinate her first. Getting Riley into the carrier was quite a challenge. She was quite happy hiding under the side table beside…

  • At Universiti Malaysia Sabah, stray dogs are welcome!

We hope such kindness will be emulated, especially by other universities. Universities are places of higher learning. Kindness is the greatest wisdom. https://www.malaymail.com/news/life/2022/12/01/at-universiti-malaysia-sabah-stray-dogs-roam-the-grounds-attend-lectures-video/42885

  • Ladies and gentlemen….a raffia string (Riley is caught)!

So we simply had to catch Riley, with Creamy around. We tried the usual. I placed the bowl of food in the house and I sat outside the shoe bench to wait. Riley actually went in halfway through the doorway but she is too smart. She refused to go in. So there I was, waiting…

  • This morning

At least it was business as usual. Samantha and Riley came to eat and I was able to approach them this close. I know what you might be thinking, “Just grab her, for goodness sake!”. It’s impossible, I tell you. She’s faster than me. In fact, I could get closer to Sam. Not Riley. Riley…

  • The best friends

Some photos of Ginger and Jayden! Ginger never fails to be by Jayden’s side, especially when Jayden needs support (be it as a backrest or when Jayden cries). Ginger is the only cat who allows Jayden to literally do anything (!) to him!

  • Riley, Riley, Riley…

I really did not want to resort to this. Sigh… But I guess I have to try…whatever works. So here goes…. Ginger’s carrier….there’s a bowl of delicious tuna and sardines at the end. Won’t you step into the chamber, Ms Riley? Delicious food awaits… Half the body goes in… But folks, I’m not going to…

  • How I caught Mr Quack and Mr Zurik

December 2012 – Mr Quack was the neighbourhood feline terrorist. He had harmed Ginger and was terrifying all our CNRM cats except Daffodil. Even we humans were terrified of him. So I had to catch him to be neutered. I had Plans A, B, C and D. Finally Plan D worked (carrier with a ribbon).…

  • Riley came back!

There was a huge thunderstorm this afternoon. Then, after the rain, Riley came back to the porch to wait for food. That’s good. She even came inside the house to eat, but she’s very cautious of me now. Sigh… Cats read minds, so how do you block off your mind waves so that the cat…

  • Thank you very much (November 2022 donors)

Thank you so much to everyone for their kind donations and support for our work.  We made two food donations to Survivor Shelter this month because of the rainy season and the difficulty for Avant Pet’s lorry to access Survivor Shelter (the bridge leading into the shelter is completely damaged) and it is also difficult…

  • A major setback with Riley…sigh

Everything started off so well this morning. Riley ate breakfast inside the house, as usual. Later, Samantha came and she ate another breakfast with Sam. This close. I thought I was achieving lots of progress with Riley. Later, she came again to ask for food because Samantha had snatched her food in the second breakfast…

  • Best friends forever – Ginger and Smurfy

When Smurfy first came to our home, he was only a 3 month-old street kitten. He looked upon Ginger as a father figure. The two bonded and became the best of friends. In fact, Minnie also fostered a bond with Ginger. After being away for 1.5 years, Minnie and her boys came back to our…
